Bring back Eko! Remember when Hurley was "playing" chess with him at the institution?

And when we will learn more about the now default leader of the Others AKA dude who never ages AKA singer of Maroon 5?

    Amazing!

My brain hurts from trying to sort out all the timeline crossovers,
not to even mention potential ones and what that could mean for how everything turns out.

    I totally, totally loved it.

    You rule, Lost.

I love this new take on time travel, that if you try to affect the future you simply fail. For example when Locke tries to shoot Teenaged Whitmore but just doesn't. It's a really progressive look at this abstract science.

Also, now it all makes sense when richard visits John as a kid. What a good episode. Finally Some answers. So pumped.

@ heatherjmoss: In the pop-up episode that aired before last week's new episode, it said her name was Eloise Hawking. Up until then, we didn't know anything about her except that she gave Desmond a ring a few seasons ago and that her name was Ms. Hawking. Popular theory is that she's Faraday's mom because the rat in his experiment was named Eloise.

Holy crap, last week's episode was AWESOME. How the hell could the writers of Lost make me LIKE Charles Widmore. I'm very interested in how this whole Linus/Widmore storyline plays out...Who's the good guy? I love how they turned Ben from the personification of evil to the "good guy", willing to do anything to protect the island from the evil Widmore. Now, they're changing direction again.

Great, great post, THH. I was just talking about this liking--yes, liking!--Widmore predicament last night. Geez. So well done by the writers! WHO'S THE GOOD GUY? IS THERE A GOOD GUY?
  4.
Well, now we know how Faraday was with Pierre Chang in the first scene of season 5. Or how he could be the "big scary man" warning Charlotte to stay off the island when she was a girl...

OK, now that they seem to be stuck, for the time being, I'm willing to bet money that the 2 people they found in the caves in the first season is 2 of their own...3 years after being stuck, Sawyer and Jin were talking about how they still haven't found the rest of the group. Could it be Rose & Bernard? I would HATE that. I'm a big fan of them.

Maybe it's 2 main characters who are alive for the time being, who will die later this season, and are laid to rest there.

OK guys, I'm not toally caught up on season 5 yet, so I haven't even read this tread. I've just watched the entire series over the course of the last 5 or 6 weeks.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting is to tell you about the LOST dream I had last night. Maybe it will help explain some of the mystery. You guys know how important dreams are Maybe there are CLUES in my dream.

This dream seemed to pull back the greater curtain that envelops the entire series, i.e. what is the point? why is this island traveling through time? who's pulling the strings? why? why? WHY!??!?

The dream introduced some new characters to the mix. One character, played by Tommy Lee Jones, is employed to travel to the island on a recovery mission. His mission is to bring some baking soda back from the island. BUT, I'm not just talking about any normal, ordinary baking soda! NO! This baking soda needed to be properly aged, so therefore the Tommy Lee Jones character had to TRAVEL THROUGH TIME at the behest of his employer in order to properly age this baking soda. Side note: at the end of the dream, we see both young and old Tommy Lee Jones with their faces spliced onto the same body, obviously a callback to his appearance in that Batman movie. I'm amazed that my subconscious placed him in this role because I don't think I ever even saw that Batman movie.

    ANYWAY, the baking soda! WHY!?!?!

So it turns out that Tommy Lee Jones was sent by a woman - a bride-to-be. I don't know that she ever appeared in the dream (her fiancee appeared as played by Tahmoh Penikett - Helo in Battlestar Galactica), but she seems to be pulling the strings behind the entire series. She was the one who demanded that some method of time travel be invented. Sacrifices had to be made. But why, why why!?!?

    I will tell you.

She wanted to have the perfect wedding. The perfect Irish wedding. And that necessitated the perfect Irish Soda Bread. And what do you need for soda bread?!?!?!

    BAKING SODA!!!!

I can't figure out what advantages aged baking soda might have over normal off-the-shelf baking soda. Maybe it's slightly more traditional?

Buy I really feel like this ending makes a whole lot of sense given the overarching theme of the series. It's all about family. And this lady, this bride, well she's just trying to start her family up. And it's gotta be perfect. It's gotta be the most perfect family on the planet, and that starts with the most perfect wedding, and if we gotta fuck up like 200 peoples lives and get most of them killed to have this damn wedding, well it's just gotta happen that way!

Am I right or am I right?
  5.
LOST is the best show ever... along with House M.D. and Heroes. Charlie was the best! It sucks that they killed him off the show.

yeah man. i'm also into this theory. smoke monster seems to be able to appear as anyone who has been on the island and is dead. although the Walt-in-the-jungle-appearances seem to be a weird exception to this rule.

KJ and Paul Agreed! Think about it Christian who is dead who is most likely "Smokey" Is also the person who gave John Locke all the instructions, told him he must die. Smokey then turns into alex and tells Ben to do everything "Locke" says. Thus the "Loophole"

Anyway, my question to you is. where do they wake up on or off the island? I'm saying off.

Also, I think the scenes of Jacob visiting our friends such as Kate, when she was a kid are somehow happening to change the future. Like him telling Kate to not steal will keep her from ever ending up on the island... you dig?

Also, Also. How powerful was the screen going WHITE at the end!!!!! so awesome! haha I'm starting from episode one season 1 next wed. to pass the off season. PUMPED!

    Here's where I play spoiler J.J. Abrams.

You're hearing it here first, Aaron grows up to be Charlie.

    Here's how-
Modern Widmore and Eloise send Des (secretly joined by Penny and baby Charlie Hume) back to his destiny on the island. Des, Sun, Lapedus and Walt, (who, after the tragic loss of his grandmother, has arranged to go find Michael, not knowing his father is dead) are forced to lead the fight against the Locke doppleganger, who, when he was posing as Christian Shepard, made off with Claire, who presumably has since perished, allowing the doppleganger to later appear as Claire and warn against Kate bringing Aaron back to the island. Improbably though, as the island claims all it's own, as little Aaron is returning to Australia with his Nan, he disappears from the plane. Young Eloise and Charles find Aaron in the jungle after the "accident" at the Swan station sight, which, of course doesn't kill them the Oceanic survivors as reported, but rather sends the castaways to join the fight against the dark spirits of the island, joined by a divided race of ancients of whom Richard, Ilana, Jacob, and Jacob's killer are members of.
In the seventies, not having broken the timeline that stranded the Oceanic survivors, and now hunted by the new, vigilant Dharma survivors, Hawking and Widmore escape to the UK with a few surviving Other's children, Aaron being one, and also a young girl, who Widmore promises, as her mother is gunned down, to raise as his own.
Aaron we'll see, is adopted out, and is subsequently renamed after the man who brought such a gift to the Pace family- Charles Widmore.
Widmore raises the girl as his own, despite having previously made the tough decision to send away his four sons for their greater good, and to completely isolate himself for them. The oldest of those island born boys is Desmond.

In the war for the island, which ends up spanning decades and centuries as the island is dislodged in time for a four to five episode arc, Des and Penny lose possession of young Charlie Hume, who, might or might not grow up to be Charles Widmore, paradoxically making Desmond his own grandfather!

And that's just the beginning of the craziness that will be the final and greatest season.

Are you ready?!! Only six more months to go!! Plenty of time to see the reboot of Star Trek!
